Our adoption process is designed to be both innovative and educational, ensuring a smooth and informed experience for all prospective adopters. Before submitting an adoption application, we recommend setting up a virtual meet and greet with the dog you are interested in. You can easily arrange this by texting 661.364.8844. Our pet listings are updated regularly, but please note that the dog you are interested in might already have scheduled meet and greets.

If you choose to complete the application in advance, or if you have already had your virtual meet and greet and are proceeding with adoption, fill out the application and agreement below. You will receive an email from our Communications Director within 48 hours of submitting your application, keeping you informed every step of the way. If our team has questions about your application, our Communications Director will let you know via email.

To ensure the dog you are interested in is still available, please email us at info@fostertales.org or text 661.364.8844 before completing your application. We value your time and strive to provide the most efficient adoption process possible.

1.Quick introductory phone call

This helps us understand your expectations, give you general information, and answer any questions you have.

2. Virtual Meet and Greet

You will meet with the dog’s foster parent(s) and learn everything we know about the dog you are interested in. You will get to see how the dog behaves in a home setting, giving you a much better idea of the dog’s personality and mannerisms.

3. Application & Deposit

You get 24 hours after the virtual meet and greet to decide if you want to pursue adoption. If you choose to proceed, you will need to complete our adoption application and agreement and submit a $100 deposit that goes towards your adoption fee. This deposit reserves the dog for you while you continue the adoption process.

4.Virtual Home Check

Our Adoption Quality Assurance Specialist will set up a Zoom or FaceTime call where you will complete a tour of your living space, both inside and outside. We require it to be a live tour and do not accept videos or pictures.

5. Pre-Adoption Counseling

One of our certified trainers will complete pre-adoption counseling with you, where they will teach you how to most successfully introduce your new dog to your home and life. Adopters report that this session is extremely valuable and helpful in transitioning a newly adopted dog. We promise that you will enjoy it!

6. In person meet & greet & adoption

The best part of the whole process! You will meet with our transporter at one of our transport locations who will introduce you to your potential pup and get you started on a “get-to-know-me walk.” If you fall in love, you are all approved to complete the adoption, pay the remainder of the fee, and take your new best friend home.
