The Final Count: How many dogs we saved in 2024

We are thrilled to share an incredible milestone: 229 dogs rescued and given a second chance at life—209 already in loving forever homes and 20 more thriving in foster care while they wait for their perfect families. This marks an astounding 101% increase from our 2023 total of 114 dogs saved.

This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the many amazing individuals and groups who make this mission possible:

To our adopters: You are the heart of this work. Without you, none of this would be possible. Your decision to adopt changes lives and allows us to rescue more dogs in need. Without adopters, we’d still have the original dogs we rescued, and these incredible numbers would never happen. Thank you for creating forever families for these deserving dogs.

To our donors: From the small donors giving what they can, to the large donors funding major needs, you are the lifeline of our work. This year, we spent tens of thousands of dollars on vet care alone—and none of it would have been possible without your support. Every dollar you give directly saves lives, funds medical care, and provides the resources these dogs need to thrive.

To our fosters: Your love, patience, and kindness create a safe haven for dogs in transition, giving them the time and care they need to heal and grow.

To our adoption team: Your tireless dedication ensures every match is made with care, creating happy endings for both dogs and families.

To our business partners: From our trusted veterinary hospitals to the pet food stores and groomers who offer discounts and exceptional service—your partnerships sustain this mission and help us care for every dog.

To our online community: Your likes, shares, comments, and donations help spread the word, raise funds, and bring dogs closer to their forever homes.

This year, most of our rescues came from shelters, with about 10 percent from our friends at Friends of Abandoned Dogs, who work tirelessly to save dogs abandoned in Kern County’s fields. Every dog rescued means more kennel space in shelters, alleviating overcrowding and reducing euthanasia rates—a ripple effect of hope and change.

As we reflect on this incredible year, we hold onto these words: “Saving one animal won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal.” Together, we’ve changed the world 229 times in 2024.

Here’s to even more stories of hope, resilience, and happy endings in 2025. Thank you to everyone who made this possible—we couldn’t do it without you.

The small businesses that support our mission and make it possible to save and care for so many dogs:

Veterinary Hospitals: Pamoist Pet Hospital of Fresno and Lawndale Pet Hospital of Southern California, for their trusted and compassionate care.

Pet Food Stores: Self Serve Pet Spa of Bakersfield and Bakersfield Pet Food Delivery, for providing discounts that keep our dogs well-fed and healthy.

Groomers: Doggie Dos of Bakersfield, along with the Tooth Fairy of Bakersfield and Los Angeles for dental care, ensuring our rescues look and feel their best.

Thank you for your unwavering support in helping us create brighter futures for every dog we save!
