Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Foster Tales!

Ingredients:

  • 1 sweet potato

  • 2 carrots

  • 1 small pumpkin (or 1.5 cup pumpkin puree)

  • 1 ear of corn

  • 2 stalks celery

  • Olive oil

  • 2 chicken breasts (or turkey giblets, if preferred)

  • Dried rosemary (optional)

  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Prepare the vegetables: Peel the sweet potato, carrots, and pumpkin. If using a whole pumpkin, cube it. Shave the corn off the cob. If you're using pumpkin puree, set it aside.

  3. Chop the veggies: Slice the carrots and celery into ½-inch pieces. Cube the sweet potato and pumpkin. Combine all the chopped vegetables and corn in a bowl, then drizzle with olive oil and stir.

  4. Prepare the baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Spread the vegetable mixture evenly across the sheet.

  5. Roast for 20 minutes: Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast for 20 minutes.

  6. Remove and set aside: Take the sheet out of the oven. Using tongs, remove the celery pieces and set them aside. Stir the remaining veggies on the sheet.

  7. Prepare the meat: If using giblets, wash and dry them. Otherwise, skip this step if using chicken breasts.

  8. Add the chicken (or giblets): Make a small space in the center of the veggies on the baking sheet. Place the chicken breasts (or giblets) in the center, then return the sheet to the oven and cook for an additional 20 minutes.

  9. Rest the chicken: Once the chicken is done, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Set the chicken breasts aside to rest. Separate the pumpkin chunks from the sweet potato and corn.

  10. Make the pumpkin puree: Place the pumpkin chunks (or pumpkin puree) in a blender. Add 2 tablespoons of water and a pinch of dried rosemary. Blend until smooth. If using pumpkin puree, simply stir in the rosemary by hand. Set aside.

  11. Chop the chicken and veggies: Dice the rested chicken into small chunks. Add the remaining roasted veggies (including the celery) and the chicken (or giblets) to a blender, then pulse to chop the mixture roughly.

  12. Serve: Spoon out a portion of the pumpkin puree into your pup's food bowl. Top with a scoop of the blended chicken and veggie mixture.
