Giving Thanks for Jimel: A Foster Hero’s Heartwarming Journey

Foster Tales is so grateful for our amazing foster families, and this Thanksgiving season, we wanted to highlight one of our most compassionate fosters: Jimel.

Jimel and her family have gone above and beyond to give love and care to dogs in need. Their journey with Foster Tales began when Jimel saw a reel on Instagram. “I had always wanted to foster,” she shares. “One day I saw a story asking for someone to foster a puppy for a few weeks. I reached out to see what was required to volunteer, and the rest is history!”

Since then, Jimel has fostered many dogs, but one story stands out above all: King.

King, the dog we rescued with cancer who Jimel fostered until the end of his days.

King was a beautiful, brave dog diagnosed with osteosarcoma. After his leg was amputated to remove a tumor, King was given just six months to live. That’s when Jimel signed up to be his hospice foster. She knew her time with King would be short, but she was determined to make every moment count.

Jimel made King part of her family, taking him on daily walks, indulging him with pup cups, and even treating him to fancy dinners. King, who had faced so much hardship, was finally surrounded by love, joy, and kindness. When the time came to say goodbye, a veterinarian came to Jimel’s home, allowing King to pass peacefully, surrounded by the people who cherished him most.

Soon after King passed, Jimel and her family opened their hearts again to another dog in need. Their selflessness and compassion are truly inspiring.

Cupcake, the dog Jimel is currently fostering.

Today, Jimel is fostering Cupcake, an energetic puppy who is still learning to trust humans. “Cupcake loves playing with toys and wants as much love and attention as possible,” Jimel says. “She’s starting to get used to our daily routine and is super interested in playing with my other fur babies.”

Fostering has taught Jimel some important lessons about love and letting go. “I did not think I would be able to love something so much and part ways with them,” she shares. “But seeing a pup go to a home where it will be loved unconditionally is a great feeling, even when the goodbye comes with a little sadness.”

Jimel’s journey is a testament to the power of fostering and the difference one family can make. Dogs like King and Cupcake have had a second chance at life because of her.

Thank you, Jimel, for all you do. This Thanksgiving, we are so grateful for amazing people like you who help us give these dogs the love and care they deserve.
